The central government has issued an order to increase the house rent allowance and DA on the basis of basic salary of government employees. As per the rules, since DA has gone up to 25 per cent, the rent has to be increased by 3 per cent. Therefore, the central government has decided to increase the HRAA to 27 per cent. The central government's rule of July 7, 2017 is that if the DA goes up to 25 per cent, the HRA will also change. Now that the inflation allowance has gone up to 28 per cent from July 1, the HRA needs to go up.
How much HRA will you get for which city?
27 per cent, 18 per cent and 9 per cent HRA are being given according to the current city category of the employee. This increase has also been implemented with DA from July 1, 2021. The range of HRA is according to X, Y and Z class cities. In other words, if the central employee is in an X category city, he will now receive more than 5,400 HRA per month. After this, Y category employees will get Rs 3,600 per month and Z category employees will get Rs 1,800 per month.
Salary extra math for central employees
According to the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum basic salary of central employees is Rs 18,000. At the same time, the basic salary of private sector employees starts from Rs 15,000. Central employees will be paid Rs 17 per cent till June 2021. The basic salary of Rs 18,000 was Rs 3,060. From July 2021, central employees will get Rs 5,040 per month at 28% DA.
