The new rules provide that only mobile or similar devices can be used for route navigation while driving, but to ensure that the driver is not distracted. Talking on the phone while driving will not be allowed. This means that from October 1, a fine of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 can be levied for talking on a mobile while driving.

At the same time, the government said that the details of driving licenses disqualified or revoked by the licensing authority will be recorded in the portal and will also be updated from time to time.
