The result of the Competitive Examination for the posts of Chief Officer, Class-II, Gujarat State Municipal Officers' Service, Advt. No. 65/2016-17, for which the interviews were held by the Commission on 9, 10, 11 and 12th October, 2017, is declared as under :

Note: 
(1) The recruitment to the post of Chief Officer, Class-II, is made as per the Recruitment Rules of Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, dated 7th June, 2016 and Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016 and amendments made thereafter from time to time. 

(2) The written examination consisted of four papers of total 700 marks (Paper-1 of 200 marks, Paper-2 of 100 marks, Paper-3 of 200 marks and Paper-4 of 200 marks) and the Interview Test consisted of 80 Marks, as per the of Rule (4) (ii) and Section-III and IV of the Schedule of the Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016 and amendments made thereafter from time to time. Thus, the total marks obtained by candidates are out of 780 marks. 

(3) As per the Rule 14 of the Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016, and amendments made thereafter from time to time, the candidate, who remains absent in Interview Test, is not to be considered eligible for selection. 

(4) As per the Rule 15 of the of the Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016, and amendments made thereafter from time to time, the merit has been Chief Officer, Class-II, Advt. No. 65/2016-17 6 determined on the basis of the aggregate marks (total marks) awarded to the candidates in the Main Examination and Interview Test. 

(5) As per the Rule 16 of the of the Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016, and amendments made thereafter from time to time, there shall be a Waiting List of about 20% of vacancies advertised for each category. 

(6) Only 02 posts are reserved for S.C. category and as per the provisions of the Rule 16 of the of the Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016, and amendments made thereafter from time to time, Waiting List of about 20% of vacancies advertised for each category is to be prepared. As per the calculation according to the rule, the number of candidate to be kept on waiting list for S.C. category comes to 0.4, which is less than 0.5, and hence no waiting list for S.C. category candidate is prepared. 

(7) The SEBC category candidates at Rank Nos. 05 and 11(Fem.) are to be recommended for appointment against unreserved posts as per Government circular, GAD No. PVS-1099-MM-13-G4 dated 29-1-2000 and PVS-2010-03-900-G4, dated 23/07/2004, as they have not availed any relaxation. 

(8) No candidate is recommended for the 01 post reserved for Disabled Candidate, as no candidate was available for the interview. 

(9) The women candidates of SEBC and S.C categories could not be selected even after relaxing 10% of the minimum qualifying standard prescribed for the candidates of their respective categories. It is relied upon the CAV Judgement dated 24th August 2015, by the Honourable Gujarat High Court in S.C.A. Nos. 8894, 8987, 8991, 8992, 8995, 9556, 9697, 10634, 10822, 10825, 10829, 10863 and 9636 of 2015 (Group Matters), where the ratio was applied in advertisement No. 118/2013-14 was upheld by the Honourable High Court. 

(10) In case of equal marks, the merit is assigned taking into consideration the date of birth (i.e. preference is given to the elder). Chief Officer, Class-II, Advt. No. 65/2016-17 7 

(11) As per Rule 18(2), of the of the Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016, and amendments made thereafter from time to time a candidate who desires to recheck his marks of Main Examination may apply to the Commission along with a fee of Rs. 50/- for each Paper, within a period of 30 days from the date of the declaration of the final Result. As per Rule 18(3), of the of the Chief Officer, Class-II, in the Gujarat State Municipal Chief Officers' Service, (Competitive Examination) Rules, 2016, dated 18th July, 2016, and amendments made thereafter from time to time, a candidate who desires to obtain the Mark Sheet of the Main Examination shall apply to the Commission along with a fee of Rs. 50/-, within a period of 15 days from the date of the declaration of the final Result.
