Preparations for the 182 Vidhan Sabha seats in Gujarat assembly elections have started. In the Gujarat elections, electronic voting machines have started the process of getting the water-viable paper audit trail for the first time. 70 thousand VVPs have been allocated for this.



As part of preparing for the Gujarat assembly elections, Election Commission has started the process of getting EVMs and VVPATs. For this total 70 thousand VVPATs will be received from eleven states and two public sector units from Bharat Electronics Limited in Bangalore and Electronics Cooperation of India Limited, Hyderabad. A logistical process has been initiated to get EVMs and VVPATs for assembly elections.

EVMs made before 2006 in the Gujarat assembly elections are not going to be used. Election Commission has decided to remove the old machine. The machine made by ECIL for the first time in Gujarat elections will be used.

VVPAT will be used for all 182 seats in Gujarat. Gujarat will be the second state to use VVPAT in all assembly seats. VVPAT was used in the sole election of Gandhinagar assembly seat in 2014 and there was no report of any complaint or complaint about the incident.

In the next assembly elections, about 4 thousand 27 lakh voters of Gujarat are going to exercise their franchise on 48 thousand polling booths. Gujarat currently has 15 thousand 774 control units and 1577 ballet units available.

Control and ballet units are an important part of EVMs. 70 thousand VVPs have been allocated for Gujarat elections. Of which 46,000 VVP devices will be new and will be brought directly from BEL and ECIL.

Complaints of voting in one of the parties arise because some political parties have been disrupted after EVMs after election results. The VVPAT will be able to verify that the candidate who has voted for his choice candidate.
